Hi Folks!
Well here we are again praise the Lord! We're going to continue on with further
understanding about receiving the promises of God into our lives. Our Father
desires for each of His children to walk in the full blessing of what each
of His promises give us. This time lets have a look at some of His promises
of divine protection. In case you didn't know already there is a "secret
place of protection" under the shadow of our mighty God that will protect
us all of our days while here on this earth. It is God's will that we be protected
from all the evil in this world, and from the author of evil himself, Satan.
But as is the case with all of His promises - they have to be believed and
received.
As I previously mentioned there are two major requirements necessary in positioning
ourselves to receive His promises...
1. Know the Promiser
2. Know the promises
It would be difficult to believe what someone promised you if you didn't understand
the integrity of the one who promised it. Well there is no one any where in
the universe with greater honour and integrity that the Lord. If He said He
would do a thing then it is as good as done! But, by not knowing what He has
promised restricts His ability to have it come to you. As His word declares
it is "through faith and patience we inherit the promises"
Hebrews 6:12. We're going to have to believe what He has
already promised if we are to have it manifest to us. Because the Lord will
not force us to receive His blessings they will then have to be believed and
received by faith. Each of us has a free will given to us by the Lord and
if we want something we will have to go after it. There are many folks out
there in the Christian world that think, "because the Lord is Divine,
then He will do whatever He wants with me and my life... What will be will
be... If God wants me to have it then He will cause me to have it", etc.
But this is not Scriptural because the Divine Lord has given us His Divine
Word which is His will. It is written - "The just shall live by faith".
God knows how to protect His children. What good father would not want to
protect his own? All of the promises of divine protection belong to each one
of us dear children of God. The Bible is loaded with so many of them and also
many examples of how He protected His own in time past. Not only will our
Father protect us from evil, He will also cause us to be delivered
out of evil if we find ourselves in it! I suppose I could write a
Pastors Heart message each week from now until the Lord returns about how
God has delivered His people, past and present, and the story would not half
be told. Our God is such a mighty Deliverer and His works are far beyond finding
out in this life, and it is not the purpose of this series to go that way.
I just want to give you a few examples of His promises of protection and deliverance
for you to meditate on, and then leave it with you to search for others. Let's
take a look at just a few... and yes they are all true!!
You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. Ps
119:114
For He will conceal me there when troubles come; He will hide me in His
sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Ps 27:5
(NLT)
Oh, how great is Your goodness which You have laid up for those who fear
You. Which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of
the sons of men. You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a shelter from the
strife of tongues. Ps 31:19-20
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Ps 32:7
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear. Ps 46:1-2(a)
...Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I, for You have been a shelter
for me and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle
forever.
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Ps 61:2(b)-4
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are
safe. Pr 18:10
Look at what the Master did!
Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out
of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John
8:59
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers
them. Ps 14:7
This is my favourite. The word "encamp" here means: to totally surround
you as if in a tent!
The righteous cry out and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all
their troubles... Many are the afflictions (troubles and trials) of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He guards all of his bones; not
one of them is broken. Ps 34:17,19-20
When you lie down you will not be afraid; yes you will lie down and your
sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor from trouble from
the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep
your foot from being caught. Pr 3:24-26
I lay down and slept; I awoke for the Lord sustained me. I will not be
afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around...
Salvation (deliverance) belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people.
Ps 3:5-6,8
Fear only the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy One and if you fear
Him he will keep you safe. Isa 8:13 (NLT)
All your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace
of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be
far from oppression for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall
not come near you. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake... No weapon formed
against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgement
you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their
righteousness is from Me says the Lord. Isa 54:13-15,17
Maybe you would like to search the scriptures for examples of what God did
in time past in protecting His people. Stories such as "Daniel protected
from fierce lions in the lions pit", the "three Hebrew children
protected in the red hot fiery furnace of Nebuchadnezzar" and the marvellous
stories of His delivering power displayed through the book of Acts. You may
know of others personally, as I do, of how the Lord has protected them form
all kinds of danger, evil and trouble. You more than likely could write stories
of your own of how the Lord has blessed you with His divine protecting hand.
I look forward to hearing about it!
And oh yes, read Psalm 91 it is awesome and it is for you who dwell in the
secret place of His presence.
God bless you!
David

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in Him I do trust."
Psalm 91:1-2
