Hi Folks!
Here we are again, still continuing through the Lord's Prayer and what an
awesome prayer it is! We have been just looking at a few of the things God
has shown me about it, but there is much more, for His Word is infinite in
power and glory! Let's keep looking.
Give us this day our daily bread. Notice the Lord didn't say "Give
us this week our weekly bread", or "Give us this year our yearly
bread", nor did He say "Give us tomorrow's bread today". No,
He said Give us "this day" our "daily" bread. This is
all about putting our trust in a loving Father. Our God is faithful to His
Word. If we will but ask Him daily for the food we need to nourish our life,
and trust Him to do it, He most certainly will.
We are triune beings made in the image and likeness of God. So when we ask
God to feed us He will be feeding our spirit, soul and bodies. Much can be
said about God's amazing ability to supply food and water for our physical
being. This is definitely part of the daily bread we will receive from Heaven
and with that we ought to always be thankful. But there is much more to the
"bread" we need than just physical food, because we are spirit beings.
If we will receive the food we need to nourish our spirit and soul on a daily
basis, then we will always have the nourishment we require for our physical
body. In fact the spiritual food is even more important to our overall being
than natural food is, according to the Word's of the Master. Let's focus more
along this line today.
It is written, man shall not live by bread (physical food) alone, but
by every Word (spiritual food) that proceeds from the mouth of God".
Matthew 4:4
I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured
the Words of His mouth (spiritual food) more than my necessary (physical)
food. Job 23:12
There are three main ways God feeds His children:
1. His Word
2. His Presence (or His Spirit)
3. His People
His Word
If we will spend as much time reading and speaking God's Word as we do eating
physical food, we will develop a strong spirit man. As physical food is to
our natural body, so is the Word to our spiritual body. Our Father will speak
to us through His Word each and every day if we will allow Him to by committing
to meditate in it daily. His Word is so vital to us in our Christian walk.
As well as teaching you, it will encourage you and build you up. It will also
provide you with the directions and the corrections necessary to keep you
on the path of life.
His Presence
Our Lord Jesus died a horrible death and suffered the punishment we all deserve,
so that the Holy Spirit could come and abide with us. Yes, we received the
Holy Spirit in our hearts when we were born again, but there is so much more.
The scriptures promise that if we will draw near to God, he will draw near
to us. As He draws near we are graced with His wonderful presence. His presence
is nourishment indeed because it is the presence of the Creator Himself! But,
we must remember our God is a Holy God. If we are to experience His wonderful
presence, then we are to walk in love as He commanded us. I encourage you
to make "love" your greatest quest in life. Make this a daily practice
- loving God and loving people.
He who has My commandments and keeps (obeys) them, it is He who loves
Me, and he who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and
manifest Myself to him... If anyone loves Me, he will keep (obey) My Word;
and My Father will love him, and We will come and make Our home with him.
John 14:21,23
His People
As the Word declares, we as born again believers are the Body of Christ.
Corporately, we are Jesus' body on the earth. Not one of us stands alone because
we are all in this together. No matter where on earth we live, or
what our calling or profession, age or gender, we are members of His household,
in Christ. We are His eternal dwelling place that He is building right now,
and you and I are each an integral part of it. None of us know it all, nor
can we do it all. We all need each other, and God needs us each doing our
part as a unified group if we are to get the job done for Jesus. We are the
Kingdom of God on the earth - shout hallelujah!! What God is doing He is doing
through His people, and in His wisdom much of our daily bread will come through
this channel - each other.
to be continued...
God bless you!

Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. "In
this manner therefore pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your
kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive our debtors. And
do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours
is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
Matthew 6:8-13
