Hi everyone!
We're continuing on in our study in 2 Chronicles Chapter 7. I suggest if you
haven't been following along with me in this teaching then go back and read
the previous three messages to get an understanding on what has been discussed,
then go ahead and read this one. You may want to re-read them even if you
have already, to refresh your memory and to give the truth further opportunity
to penetrate deep within your heart. It's the truth that we know and act upon
that brings results in our life, not the truth we once heard.
Jan 03, 2004 2 Chronicles 7:14 - Jan 09, 2004 Humble Yourself - Jan 13, 2004 Pray
As I said previously there is great blessing promised to those who heed the
2 Chronicles 7:14 instructions and apply them to their life. This is not only
true for us as individuals in the body of Christ but also for our local church
body and nation as a whole.
Last week we discussed prayer and how we should have it as the number one
priority in our life.
Colossians 4:2 says we are to devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Today we are moving on from our command to Pray... to Seeking God's Face.
There is a difference.
Prayer most simply described is communication with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ. There are many different kinds of prayer and to discuss these now
is not the purpose of this particular teaching.
We are exhorted in scripture to humble ourselves and pray. Jesus said that if we believed when we prayed we would receive from Him whatever we asked.
We can go to God's Word, find a promise that relates to our present circumstance,
and boldly approach God's throne and present our case in Jesus Name. Our Father
is a prayer answering God and He delights in hearing from His children and
granting them what they ask for. Praise God for His precious promises!
Seeking God's face though is going further in our prayer life. It's one thing
to pray and tell the Lord what is on our heart, but it's a different thing
to seek the Lord for the purpose of finding out what is on His heart. God
has a particular pathway for each of His children to walk in (of course this
plan is in line with His written Word, as His Word is His will).
This path is already planned out for each and every one of us in His perfect will. This path is your place of blessing. This is your place of contentment, protection, healing and provision.
If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures. Job 36:11.
You may be wondering what the Lord's plan is for your life. Let me tell you it's the best thing for you.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and go and pray to Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13.
The bible has much to say about when we serve God to do it with all our heart.
This is one area that we can get ourselves into trouble, by being out of His perfect will and plan. Here are just a few examples for you to start thinking about and searching the heart of God over, if you don't already know.
The Lord has a pastor for each of His children to submit to, who's yours?
Where is your place of fellowship?
This is where you are to live, unless you are on the mission
field...
but you still have a family and a part of the body that you can call home...
find your place.
What is my occupation?
What is my calling within the body of Christ?
What do you want me to do for you today Lord?
Is there someone you want me to talk to?
Who can I be a blessing to today Lord?
How can I be a blessing to you Father?
What is on your heart Lord?
What is your plan for my life?
You see folks our life is not our own to live just any old how we want to. For we have been purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and we don't belong to ourselves. We belong to God and we are His property. He has a life for us to live, and the finding is found in the seeking. Go ahead and read the words of the Master in Matthew 7:7- 8 and have a great day.
David

At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or I
might command locusts to devour your crops, or I might send plagues among
you. Then, if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from
heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land. I will listen to every
prayer made in this place, for I have chosen this temple and set it apart
to be my home forever. My eyes and my heart will always be here.
