The Sword of the Spirit - Pastor’s Heart

Hi everyone, we're coming to the last piece of armour - the Sword. It's not just a sword but a sword of the Spirit. The Amplified bible says it's a sword that the Spirit wields! This sword is spiritual power and with it we do wage a good warfare.

You will remember the armour was given to us by the Lord himself for our protection against the enemy's lies and deceptions. This sword portion differs in that we can take it up and attack with it. Jesus showed us the way by taking the sword of the Word of God in His mouth and defeating Satan every single time... "It is written!".

You and I as Christians have been given the written Word of God to use as a sword the same way Jesus did when He was on the earth. If you will keep the other pieces of armour on, and keep your heart filled with the Word by meditating on it day and night, then you will have something to work with when temptation comes.

So many of God's dear children are defeated in life because their hearts and minds aren't filled with the Words of Life. They have become careless and have allowed other things to enter in and choke the Words of Life so that they are inefective in their Christian walk. They stumble easily because they do not use God's Word as the Sword as it was intended.

Dear people I encourage you to speak God's Word fearlessly over your life... daily. When temptation comes your way, or negative circumstances rise up against you and stare you in the face, take up the Sword and declare your victory. In closing I will leave you with a few examples but firstly lets read Heb 4:12-14 together and let it minister to you the awesomeness of His Word and the importance of maintaining a right confession

"For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession."

•My Father loves me and Jesus has already given me the victory

•By the stripes of Jesus I am healed

•God has sent His Word and healed me

•I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might

•I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

•God is on my side therefore I will not fear

•Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world

•Terror will not come near me and great is my peace

•I live in the secret place of the Most High

•Gods angels surround me and they do deliver me

•No weapon formed against me will prosper

•My God supplies all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

•The Lord is my Shepherd and I do not lack
