Here's the next piece of Armour in our getting dressed for success series, the Helmet of Salvation. Ok soldier, "take" your helmet in your hand and pull it down over your head.

You will notice this helmet fits you perfectly. Salvation was designed just for you by Jesus dying for you on the cross and shedding His precious blood. God the Father loves you so much that Jesus would have come just for you if you were the only one who would believe. You are that precious to Him! If your life was weighed in the balance with all of the earth's treasures on one side and you on the other, it would easily topple your way according to the heart of God.

There are two aspects of our Salvation that I think worthy of talking to you about today.

Firstly we must recognize what we have been saved from. But to fully understand this we must firstly have an understanding of the Greek word for Salvation which is "Soteria." It literally means... deliverance, preservation, material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension, protection, liberty, health, restoration, soundness, wholeness. WOW!! Did you get all of that? To the child of God Jesus has offered such great salvation. Apart from being set free from a devil's burning hell we have been promised divine health, protection from all kinds of danger, peace and soundness of mind and complete liberty in every area of life just to name a few. "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13) means a little more now doesn't it? Hebrews 2:3 calls this a great salvation! It also exhorts us not to neglect this great salvation if we are to walk in all of it's benefits.

This brings me to the second point we must recognize along this line of our salvation. We need not only know what we have been saved from but what we have been saved to.

Phil 2:12b-13  (NIV) "... but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."

We have been saved to live a holy life that is pleasing to God. "This is the will of God, your sanctification" (1 Thess 4:3). This means we need to set our lives apart for His purposes and not our own. We no longer belong to ourselves. We have been purchased back to God by His very own blood for His use only.

Folks lets remember all that we have been saved from and be ever thankful to Jesus for all that He has done. We didn't earn our salvation. Jesus purchased it for us and offered it as a free gift to all those who believe. So let us live totally dedicated toward His good purpose and plan and we will not be disappointed.

Thank you Jesus for so GREAT a salvation.
I love you both now and forever Lord
