Hi Folks!

We're continuing with our study of dressing for success in God's army.

This third piece of armour is for our feet. You will notice that our short time on earth is a walk of faith with our God. The peace of God's presence is vital if we are to overcome in this life. Our walk with the Lord is much like our walk through this world in the natural realm. Some of the terrain we must walk over could be very damaging to our feet if we were to leave our shoes off. Our spiritual shoes are intended to do the same - they are for our protection against the hard and rough things that we must encounter in this life as we walk with the Lord. If we are going to do well in our spiritual walk we must have good spiritual shoes - the shoes of peace.

One of the enemy's strategies is to steal our peace if he possibly can. The good news is the devil can't steal our peace if we don't let him. It's easy to have some kind of peace when everything is going right for us. But as God's children we can still have the peace which passes all understanding guarding our hearts and minds even when all hell breaks loose around us. We can have peace in the midst of any storm.

Jesus said in John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Glory to God!

This peace is powerful! We don't have to worry or be afraid of anything. He's with us at every moment of the day and His peace is available. Let me briefly show you how you can keep yourself in the peace of God at all times.

Psalm 119:165 declares
"Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble."

What is it to love God's Word? Do you love good preaching? ...oh yes! Do you love the convicting power of the truth? ...that's right brother preach it! Do you love anointed praise and worship that's permeated with the truth of God's holy Word? ...oh yes Amen! Do you love to do what the Word of God tells you to do? ...well that may be a little different.

We can love good preaching and enjoy the wonderful praise and worship that's all around the world right now, but if we are not doers of the Word and hearers only, then any peace we walk in is temporary at best.

Have a look at this powerful verse of scripture in Isaiah 48:18
"Oh, that you had heeded my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea."

To help me make this more clear let me give an example of heeding just a part of the commandment to "Love your neighbour as yourself" as given to us by our Lord Jesus.

We as Christians don't even have the liberty of holding any sort of an offense or grudge against any one person on earth. That may sound like a tall order but we have been commanded to forgive just as Christ has forgiven us. Jesus hung on the cross and forgave His persecutors, and He was without sin. We've all missed it my brother and sister, so how much more should we be quick to forgive and release any who have harmed us in any way. Yes there is a price to pay to walk in the peace of God, but if Jesus is truly our Lord (Master) then we will obey Him quickly and willingly.

There we have it again my friend, these powerful shoes of peace that we've been given to wear on our feet, preparing us for a victorious Christian walk.

David

Shoes Of Peace

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the good news, so that you will be fully prepared.
